About

The University of Leicester is a public research-intensive comprehensive university based in Leicester, England with 22,185 students and 3,800 staff. It is one of the very best British and global universities, with an enviable record of research discoveries, a flair for teaching innovation and proven success in broadening access to higher education. Ranked 22nd UK university by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023, the University is hugely ambitious for the future as it pioneers a distinctive and research-intensive institution, open to all who have talent.

The University’s research has wide-ranging impacts on society, health, culture, and the environment, which is judged to be internationally excellent. Whether it’s pioneering work in space, heritage, breakthroughs in the search for alternatives to antibiotics, or life-changing diabetes research, it demonstrates education and knowledge to be a power for good. To support the delivery of world-class academic activity and create an environment which fosters collaboration and achievement, the University of Leicester has invested £300m to update and refresh its facilities. This includes an expansion of its Students’ Union, a new home for the School of Business as well as new study and living spaces for students in Freeman’s Common.

The University can be described as modern, innovative, diverse and forward-thinking. In late 2021, it launched its exciting and ambitious 10-year strategy with a refreshed mission. Since the new strategy’s launch, the University has continued to grow and out-perform its peers, with student numbers increasing by 2,000 last year, and plans for a further 12% growth this year. With a new capital strategy for campus and digital infrastructure planned, and an international strategy recently agreed, Director of Digital Services appointed, and the goal to become a sector leader in digital learning, now is an exciting time to join the University of Leicester.
