Role specification

Ten seeks a commercially astute Non-Executive Director to strengthen its Board as it navigates through the next stage of its growth. The new Non- Executive Director will play a key role in overseeing the execution of its strategy, building out its commercial capability and supporting the executive team to deliver its vision of becoming the world’s most trusted concierge service. This person will be expected to serve on the Audit Committee and will chair the Remuneration Committee in due course.

The successful candidate will bring a collaborative, commercial, customer-focused mindset. They will understand how to scale effectively whilst improving processes and increasing customer engagement and loyalty.

Key responsibilities of the Non-Executive Director include:

  • Constructively challenge and help develop Company strategic direction
  • Work with the leadership team and Board to develop high-growth strategies
  • Review the integrity of financial information and ensure that financial controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible Be familiar, and ensure compliance with, UK corporate governance requirements
  • Be responsible, with other Board members, for determining appropriate levels of remuneration of Executive Directors
  • Uphold high standards of integrity and probity and support Executive Directors to instil the appropriate culture, values and behaviours in the boardroom and across the company
  • Consider the views and interests of shareholders and other stakeholders at all times
  • Make sufficient time available to discharge responsibilities effectively

The Non-Executive Director will play an active and positive role in the direction of the business, applying their experience to support Ten's continued growth. They will promote and champion Ten externally, acting as an ambassador for the organisation to all external stakeholders.


Person specification

The successful candidate will have previous experience as either a Non-Executive or Executive Director of a technology-enabled business which has scaled to over £200m in revenue. Candidates will have a track record of success, with a particular interest in those who have deep knowledge of the following areas: B2B2C or B2C technology, high growth and internationalisation.

Candidates who demonstrate experience in similar but non-conflicting organisations (e.g. loyalty platforms, financial engagement platforms, customer engagement tools) which have scaled successfully will be prioritised. Experience of growing an international business, particularly in the US or Asia, is highly desirable.

As Ten continues to develop, experience of strategically and operationally supporting the growth of a client-oriented business and established brand would be valuable. As such, candidates will have a strong sense of company evolution and the common pitfalls to avoid.

Ten is open to receiving applications from those who are seeking their first non-executive position but candidates must have prior executive leadership experience. They will have the ability both to appreciate the history and culture of the business and will act as a supportive figure to the Chair, Board and leadership team - encouraging, advising and challenging as necessary, whilst being available on a flexible basis to provide independent insight.


Terms of appointment

This role is remunerated at £40,000 p.a. and reasonable, pre-agreed travel expenses will be reimbursed. There are currently ten Board meetings per year, plus shorter one-hour meetings every other month.

The successful candidate will be expected to serve on the Audit Committee and will chair the Remuneration Committee in due course. The Audit Committee meets five to six times per year and the Remuneration Committee meets three to four times per year. As Chair of the Remuneration Committee, the successful candidate will receive an extra £5,000 per year.


Location

This organisation is based in London and meetings will take place in person. UK-based candidates are preferred, but hybrid attendance for exceptional candidates will be considered.
