Role specification

myGwork seeks to strengthen its Board with the appointment of a new Chair. This Chair will guide the company through its next phase of growth and beyond.

More specifically, areas of responsibility will include:

  • Working with the CEO and senior management team who are now looking to take the company to the next stage
  • Providing leadership to the Board and management team, helping them to commercially and operationally evolve to reflect the growth requirements of the business
  • Ensuring that the value of Board members' contributions are maximised by delivering clear, concise conclusions and plans of action
  • Acting as a critical friend, providing counsel, challenge and support to the CEO and management team – they will ask probing, challenging and effective questions
  • Bringing relevant experience to the Board to help the company in its growth and scale up, representing the company externally and positioning it with partners to facilitate its further expansion
  • Helping further develop the business' governance structures as it grows, formalising corporate governance elements including the responsibilities of the senior management team

Person specification

In order to support the business on its scaling journey, myGwork hopes to find a Chair with a proven track record, preferably in the recruitment industry (with a knowledge of DE&I, human resources and technology) or the B2B software industry. The company is aiming for a Series A round by the end of the year to drive aggressive growth of revenue, product offering, user-base and geographical expansion. Therefore, the right candidate for this role will have experience of guiding a business through the next stage of growth, leading multiple large-scale funding rounds through to exit. They will have the demonstrable strategic and commercial leadership experience to advise the management team on the opportunities and pitfalls of growth, and will be able to mentor the leadership team throughout its scale-up journey.

As the US is a key target market for growth, experience of the venture capital landscape within North America is strongly preferred, with familiarity with or connections within top US VC investors of major benefit. The new Chair will be able to advise on a potential exit strategy with US companies.

Lastly, the successful candidate will also have strong networks, particularly for business development, acting as an ambassador to enhance the company's profile through engagement with investors and other key stakeholders.
