About

The Moto Foundation was launched in 2005 as a grant-making charity supporting various local groups and national charities by raising money at Motorway service locations nationwide. Funds raised by the charity are distributed back into its communities through grants. Moto has around 5,900 colleagues at service areas nationwide and has helped raise over £8m since 2005.

Moto Foundation's main areas of focus are collaborating with its national and community partners and adopting local schools, making a difference in the environment and most importantly giving grants to the community. The charity's business model is a unique one. Moto Hospitality, branded as Moto, is a British service station operator which operates 59 motorway service stations across the United Kingdom. Some brands at Moto services include Burger King, Costa, Greggs, M&S, Tesla, Pret and several others. It is currently the UK's largest service area operator. Moto is the sole member of the Moto Foundation and offers its support with fundraising, donations and access to other services like its people, technology and teams.

Each Moto location is given the opportunity to adopt a local community partner, specific to their geographical area. These partnerships build strong community links and provide excellent opportunities for our charity to make a real difference to its communities. Local community partners are eligible to apply for grants to the charity.

The Moto Foundation’s current five-year national charity partnership is with Mind, the leading mental health charity across England and Wales, and SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health), the leading mental health charity in Scotland. The Trust aims to fundraise £1.25m during the partnership and raise mental health awareness among both its colleagues and customers. Over the next five years, the charity aims to raise £5m overall and this is a very exciting time to join the foundation.
