Role specification

As part of artsdepot's plan to expand its reach and remain as a sustainable cultural hub, as it has been for the last 18 years, it is now looking to expand its Board of Trustees. The new Trustees will use their specific skillset and relevant experience to help the Board make strategic decisions in order to maximise community engagement through its exciting programmes and projects. The Trustees will have a strong alignment with the vision and mission of artsdepot and proactively help to work towards its success.

In addition to the formal Board meetings, Trustees will be willing to undertake informal engagement with the charity, including providing advice on an ad hoc basis to the management team. Trustees will be expected to use their specific knowledge and experience to help the Board reach sound decisions; assist the senior leadership team with advice as required; and keep informed about, and support as appropriate, the activities of the organisation.

Person specification

artsdepot is seeking new Trustees who are aligned to its mission and have the relevant knowledge to specialise in one of the following areas to support the charity with its growth:

Digital marketing: artsdepot has a clear and compelling vision, and it needs expert guidance in devising and implementing comprehensive marketing content, engagement and communications strategy across social media platforms to increase its reach and brand awareness. It is looking for a Trustee who will proactively support the charity's growth plans through effective marketing strategy and decision-making.

Property law: The charity has historically always had a lawyer on its Board for assistance and guidance regarding legal matters that involve lease negotiation. It seeks a new Trustee who would have experience as a property or lease negotiation lawyer.

Equality, diversity and inclusion expert (EDI): artsdepot is especially committed to listening, learning and taking action to play its part in building an anti-racist society and it firmly believes in working towards combatting racism. For this reason, it especially seeks a Trustee who would be its EDI expert and would advise the charity in taking concrete steps towards championing its equality, diversity and inclusivity measures.

Fundraising: The charity is looking to appoint a Trustee with substantial third sector leadership skills in order to support its strategic plans, especially with regard to fundraising.

The charity especially welcomes applications from young candidates who are looking to take on their first non-executive role.

Terms of appointment

This role is unremunerated; however, reasonable, pre-agreed travel expenses will be reimbursed. There are four Board meetings per annum, including an annual general meeting (AGM) in May. This year's AGM is on May 9th and the new Trustees will be expected to attend this meeting.

The appointment is for a three-year term. Travelling for artsdepot shows and events is encouraged and would be greatly appreciated but is not mandatory.

The deadline for consideration is 24th February 2022.

If you would like to register your interest in this role, please fill in the form below. A member of the Nurole team will be in touch ahead of the deadline to let you know whether it would be worth submitting an application and to discuss the process further.
