Headquartered in Coventry, Sonihull has developed an industry-leading ultrasound technology that safely prevents marine algae, weeds and molluscs from colonising ocean-going vessels and structures like ships and wind farms. 

The technology emits ultrasonic soundwaves to safely prevent marine algae, weeds, and molluscs from settling. The Sonihull system is recognised for its innovative environmental friendliness, with no harmful environmental impact. 

The technology removes the need for poisonous chemicals and microplastics in antifouling coatings and can reduce maintenance costs by up to 90%. The company is transforming the way in which marine applications are approaching antifouling, a global industry which is worth about $100 billion annually in the commercial shipping sector alone. The business is at an exciting cusp of rapid growth, and is currently at £5m ARR, with the goal of reaching £150m ARR over the next five years.  

In addition to scaling its international growth in the maritime sector, the business is now also looking to further expand into other industrial sectors, with a specific priority of oil and gas. In order to meet its ambitious challenge, Sonihull is seeking to appoint a new Non-Executive Director to the Board to support the next stage of company growth.

Sonihull seeks to strengthen its business with the appointment of a new Non-Executive Director, who will play a key role in the development of company go-to-market strategy, building out the commercial capability of the business and importantly providing support to the executive team.

It is expected that the successful candidate will quickly become familiar with Sonihull's business and have a strong understanding of its model and overall growth strategy. The successful candidate will be joining Sonihull at an exciting stage of expansion. The NED will therefore work closely with the CEO and executive team, acting as a sounding board and advisor on commercial aspects of the business. They will hold the management team to account, acting as a critical friend and holding the executives to high standards for their delivery against the business strategy.

It is hoped that the successful candidate will offer expertise and guidance, lead important stakeholder relationships, and leverage their network as appropriate. The incoming NED will act as an ambassador for the company, strengthening its profile within the oil and gas sector to facilitate its continued expansion.

Finally, the new NED will ensure that the corporate governance of Sonihull is upheld. They will also oversee the company's corporate governance model, demonstrating the highest levels of integrity and hold the business to the highest ethical standards and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and requirements.

Sonihull is a flexible, ambitious team and the incoming Non-Executive Director will continue to contribute to that culture. The successful candidate will bring experience as a C-level commercial leader in the oil and gas sector, with specific understanding of the US market landscape. Individuals who bring senior leadership in procurement or operations, such as a Chief Procurement Officer or Chief Operations Officer, would also be of keen interest to the Board. 

In order to best support and hold to account the management team as it navigates the complexities of expanding both the company's geographic footprint and the transferrable applications of its technology, candidates must have recent understanding of the US oil and gas sector. 

The successful candidate will be able to leverage relevant networks in the space, and most importantly advise on Sonihull's go-to-market strategies and provide insights into the industry landscape. Candidates will specific experience in companies with activity in Houston, Texas would be particularly competitive.

The company is open to those for whom this would be their first non-executive role, as long as they understand the difference between executive and non-executive responsibilities.

This role is remunerated and reasonable, pre-agreed, travel expenses will be reimbursed.

There are six Board Meetings per year. In total, it is anticipated that, in a normal year, the role will require two days per month, including meeting preparation time.

Meetings are held virtually, and candidates will likely be based in either the UK or US.
