Tell us about the Impact and Africa channel launches: why now?
The social and environmental impact industry is one of the most dynamic in the world right now. Investors, businesses, and boards are waking up to the responsibility they have to increase diversity, promote inclusion and economic equality, and protect the planet.
As for Africa, the region is growing so quickly that the need for better governance is critical. The exciting thing about launching the sectors at the same time is that there are some natural overlaps between the two. Nurole is perfectly positioned to execute searches in these complex sectors because of the huge reach of the platform (30,000+ members) and the 'network effect' power of our members' recommendations. Read more about how we work with organisations in the Impact Sector here, and also about our dedicated Africa team here.
What brought you to Nurole?
I have a background in global cross-sector c-suite and board level hires for listed, private, and non-profit organisations, and was previously at Russell Reynolds Associates and JCA (now Heidrick and Struggles). I joined Nurole to lead their execution team, and quickly realised that the technology and candidate-led approach was a gamechanger for the industry. I was particularly drawn to Nurole’s mission-driven approach. Our passion for diversity, better boards and governance, and positive social impact is really ingrained in our business model. Nurole’s 'recommend a candidate' scheme, for example, has earned over £20,000 for charity.

What is your Impact background?
I have a BA in Human Sciences and an MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation, and Management from the University of Oxford, and I’m writing a part-time PhD thesis on impact investment at the Imperial College. I also have hands on experience in impact enterprises, as a founder and consultant.
Our impact team is actively growing and includes individuals with traditional search backgrounds, as well as executives from within industry who believe in the power of Nurole to catalyse the growth of this sector.
What particularly interests you about Africa?
I have both personal and professional connections to Africa – I grew up in Limpopo (South Africa) and ran an African conservation project combining wildlife conservation and impact investment. I’ve also executed a number of high-profile Africa executive searches throughout my search career. I have split my time between London and Johannesburg for the last fifteen years.
